AGB stands for Active Germplasm Bank, a collection of access, which is routinely used for research purposes, characterization, evaluation, and usage of materials. The active collection is multiplied according to the demand of germplasm by breeders and researchers and regenerated periodically. The dynamic character of the collection activity is indicated by the fact that access into and out of its inventory, as management decisions. In the case of elimination of accesses, they may (or not) come to integrate the collection base, which is larger in scope than the active collection. The active collection generally works in two cycles: growing live plants and seeds stored in the field to Regeneration or Multiplication materials. The active collection should correspond to a subset of Collection base.
