1. In original condition. 2. It is said that the conservation of germinal material is in situ as occurs in the original condition in which it is found in nature, that is, soil or water and the environment in which it germinates. The places for in situ Conservation consist of national parks, conservation areas and reserves. 3. In the In situ form the native species populations are preserved in their natural environment, where it is possible the continued evolution and adaptation of species to the environment. We refer, in general, to the conservation in the National System of Conservation Units (SNUC), in national parks, state units, municipal and private, biological reserves, etc. and in situ under cultivation or on farm. In situ conservation, particularly at Embrapa, their actions are held largely in partnership with other institutions ... (COSTA et al., 2007)
