It is the law that establishes safety standards and enforcement mechanisms in the use of the techniques of genetic engineering in building, growing, handling, transporting, marketing, consumption, disposal and release of genetically modified organisms in order to protect the life and health of humans, animals and plants, as well as the environment.[1]
