ICRISAT is an acronym for International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics, Non Goverbmental Organization, nonprofit, whose mission is to research agriculture for the development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, with partners worldwide. ICRISAT and its partners help empower poor people to overcome poverty, hunger and environmental degradation through improving agriculture. It is based in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, belonging to the consortium of centers supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research ([[CGIAR]]).
